“Divine Art Class”

By: O’Jay Cole

As a child growing up, listening to Bible stories about Jesus working miracles seemed fictional to me; and though I knew they weren’t, my brain could not fathom most of them.

As I grew older, I realized that it was still hard for me to open my mind to the possibility of God working miracles in my life. Maybe my faith was too weak, who knows?

Nevertheless, sophomore year in college was a mind-changer for me.  I saw God working in ways that challenged my way of thinking. He opened my mind to his supernatural power.
I was humbled and intrigued. God used a special art class to show me the wonders of His omnipotence.

Slaving away at my workstation in my dorm room one night, an alert from my phone provided the perfect opportunity for a break.

My childhood friend, Jolie, sent a text message to check in on me. Our conversation involved both of us reminiscing about our younger days as children.During the conversation Jolie mentioned that she had complications with her womb that resulted in her being hospitalized.
In that very moment my heart constricted. My only thought was that God would see her through.
I went to bed that night perplexed, I wrestled with the thought of losing my friend.

The next day, I woke up with an urge to draw. I was confused, but I did it anyway. I took a drawing pad and pencils, and went to the prayer room.I sat there and prayed. Before I knew it, I started drawing a woman and her womb. I felt like I was being instructed by God’s divine commands. Each part of the drawing was very detailed – perfect even.

The completed image was a woman’s womb with the symbol of the cross within the womb, and an unknown substance leaving her body. After that bizarre experience, I got ready for class and went about my day. I tried not to think about all that had happened. After weeks of being swamped with assignments, I neglected checking in on Jolie. However, she eventually contacted me via text message.

The Good News

Jolie was discharged from the hospital! And while resting at home, an unknown substance passed as ‘waste’ from her body. She was feeling brand new with no pain or discomfort.
As you can see, Jolie’s description of what happened matched the exact detail of the drawing I made.

I was in God’s divine art class that day in the prayer room; and certainly, it taught me a divine art lesson.I was filled with awe at His omnipotence. God taught me that with His power, there are wonders beyond what my mind can fathom.

To have a friend who is ill while trying to balance college is a hard task. I had poured myself into work tying to avoid worrying about my friend; but God was working behind the scenes on Jolie’s behalf.

After the miracle happened, I remembered His words from Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct thy paths.”

God had certainly directed my path in the most unusual way.

If you have a family member or friend who is ill, remember that God is a God of miracles and He keeps His promises. Jeremiah 30:17 says “For I will restore health unto you, and I will heal your wounds, saith the Lord.”

Be of good courage, and remember God is a God of miracles!
