"Half Full, Always!”
By: Romona Geohaghan
However, if you have never
heard the sentence: “Look at the cup half full, and not half empty,” then I don’t
know where you’ve been hiding.
I want you to reflect
on your life and ask yourself: “How is my life right now?”
The National Science
Foundation says that an average person has about
12,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day, and 80% of
those thoughts are negative.
Upon answering the
question you asked yourself, I bet most of you started to review the negative elements
of your life. But, if I should challenge you to think about the positive things,
I bet it would take much longer.
There are tons of
reasons why you should always try to look at the cup half full. Let me expound.
I loved candies, but sometimes
I would maybe have too much. I couldn’t help it! I loved every type, even the
sour ones that you’d probably try to avoid. But you see… what I have noticed is
that, even the sour candies have a layer of sweetness to it.
In a sense, this is how
I see life. Life has so many layers. Some experiences are bitter and painful, and
some are filled with beautiful, happy memories.
You’re in college right
now and I know that it might be a difficult time for you. Some of you are
perhaps struggling to provide basic needs, let alone afford tuition. Some are
struggling to fit in; some are lost and scared – heartbroken even. You may feel
as though your glass is half empty.
But look at the bright
side - the positive elements of your life that is. You are breathing, you have a
chance to get an education, you have a family, and you’re living somewhere
right now. Your cup is half full!
Once you have life, you
have the power to fill your glass to the top. So with your half full glass
right now, go fill it with happiness and peace. The Bible in Luke 12:22 says:
“Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you
will wear.”
It’s so easy worry and lose
sight of the good things in life, but promise me that you won’t lose sight of
the Bigger Person – the Bigger Picture.
We become so negative
sometimes, focusing on the wrong things; but I challenge you to just stop!
Breathe! Release! You still have time to fill your cup.

Amen. We serve a mighty God!
ReplyDeleteIndeed! Thank you for reading.
DeleteLolz I too thought about way more negatives than positive. It all comes down to training our minds to be bigger than our problems through faith.
ReplyDeleteYes we have to train our minds. The Bible tells us that we should transform our minds.
