"In the Nick of Time"

By: Danieka Thompson

When I was younger, I would get excited when I heard that a storm was coming. However, now that I’ve grown, I no longer feel the thrill of experiencing storms, because I realized that storms can be even more brutal and figurative in nature.

Despite the disruptive nature of storms, I’ve decided to use them as an opportunity to increase my faith in God.

I’m a university student, and sometimes life gets crazy for me. Last semester, I had no idea how I would pay my tuition. So, I decided to try student loan; but, it turned out that I didn’t meet the requirement.

I was so disappointed because I really needed the loan. This was a very difficult time for me, as I was missing out on assignments. Nevertheless, I still kept my faith.

Time passed, and nothing happened in my favour. The Bible in James 2:26 proclaim that, “Faith without works is dead.” So, I try a series of things to get registered.

I went to the Office of the University President to seek help, and I also tried asking several persons for monetary contributions. Sadly, nothing happened that could change my circumstance.

One day at school, my lecturer advised me to revisit the Office of Finance to get my registration sorted out. I was scared. This was going to be a test of my faith. Nevertheless, I took my lecturer’s advice, and said a little prayer in my heart.

When I arrived at the office, the line was long; longer than my faith if you asked me. However, when I finally got a chance to see one of the finance representatives, he asked; “What’s happening here Ms.Thompson, why are you not registered?” At this moment, I was given the opportunity to share my financial struggle.

Happy Friday!

I walked out of the office beaming with joy that Friday afternoon. Can you believe it? I was registered for my classes! God did not let me down.

I’ve learnt that God has a way of using others to bless you unexpectedly. What that finance representative did for me that day was a blessing from God.

The deadline for registration was set for the following Monday; but, God showed His strength in my weakness just in the nick of time.I was assured that even though the storm may look rough, with God, you’re tough enough.

If you’re struggling with anything at all, just remember that there is nothing God won’t do for you.

Don't forget, “With God, all things are possible,” Matthew 19:26.
